I did finish watching the tutorial so I could at least get a feel for what else Marmoset Toolbag can do. I stopped following the tutorial after that, at least as far as replicating the exercise in my copy of Marmoset. I even went so far as to reinstall my driver, and reboot, but to no avail. When I got to the point in the tutorial when you learn about the Sky Tool, it freaked out my graphics card several times. I did have problems using Marmoset, but I think it may have been more of an issue with my computer than with the software. You can make turntable animations within Marmoset, but I don’t think it has the capability to do much more than that, animation-wise. There are limits to what will export, such as animations. There is an exporter plug-in for Maya, but with other programs like 3ds Max you need to export an obj or fbx file. I could see myself easily losing track of time after bringing a project into Marmoset. The best part about it is it is all real-time, just like they advertise. Adjust specularity, add lights, depth of field, and too many more adjustments to mention. The program is a blast! You import your mesh and texture maps (normal, specular, etc.), and then go to town. They offer a thirty-day, fully featured trial, and then the program costs $59 US for a non-expiring license. I have seen it associated with quite a few intermediate and advanced tutorials on Digital Tutors and thought it would be a good idea to check it out. It is a stand-alone, real-time material editor and renderer for the PC. I decided I would spend the first part of last night running through a tutorial for a program by the name of Marmoset Toolbag.
